Steps to delete content
- Log in to maam using the account that created the content.
- Locate the post, comment, photo, or video you want to delete.
- Tap the three-dot icon in the top right-hand corner of the content.
- Select the option "Delete".
- Confirm the action when prompted.
- The content will be permanently removed and will no longer be visible to other users.
Steps to delete your account
- Open maam on your device.
- Go to Settings & Privacy.
- Tap Delete your account.
- Re-authenticate when prompted (enter your password or sign in again with Google).
- Read the confirmation notice and tap Confirm.
- Your account will be scheduled for deletion. This action is irreversible.
What data will be deleted
- Your profile (name, bio, profile photo, and cover photo).
- All your posts, comments, reactions, and saved items.
- Direct messages and group messages you have sent (see note on Shared Content).
- Photos, videos, and other files you have uploaded.
- Followers and following relationships.
- Conversation history with the AI and AI preference settings linked to your account.
What data we may retain (and why)
- Security/fraud logs (e.g., IPs, error logs), kept for abuse prevention and legal compliance.
- Customer support tickets and your deletion request, to document consent and compliance.
- Backups: encrypted copies containing your data are automatically deleted after a set period.
Retention periods
- Backups: automatically deleted within a maximum of 30 days.
- Security and audit logs: retained for up to 12 months (or longer if required by law or to resolve a dispute).
Note on shared content
- In group threads or community spaces, your name will appear as "Deleted user".
- Posts and comments you created are removed from public view; however, content quoted or re-shared by others may remain in their copies.
Can't access the app?
If you cannot log in but wish to delete your account, send an email to info@maam.ai from the address associated with your account with the subject line "Delete my maam account". We will verify your identity and process the deletion.
Effective date
This deletion process and policy are effective from 21 August 2025.
